Daniel Patrick Cagle Scholarship 2008

                                                                                                                                      

GOAL:    

The Daniel P. Cagle Scholarship is awarded to a current Richard Henry Dana Middle School student that has demonstrated through their writing an understanding and articulation of the concepts of character and leadership.  This memorial scholarship is established by the family of former Dana Student, Spc Daniel P Cagle, US Army.
 

AWARD:  

A $500 EE Savings Bond for first place, and a $200 EE Savings Bond for two second place winners.  Up to three separate awards for an 8th grade student at Dana Middle School. 

Awards will be issued as a US Savings bond.  Winners will be notified and will require additional information so that the bond may be issued (Full birth name and social security number).

Scholarship will be offered on an annual basis dependent on the school calendar with a specified date for submission after Memorial Day.


ELIGIBILITY and EVALUATION METHOD:

Current 8th grade DANA student.

Each applicant submits a written entry, poem, or an essay.  The submission should demonstrate through their writing an understanding and articulation of the concepts of character and leadership.  Submission may be based on historical references, present, or future.  Submission may be fiction or non-fiction.  Students are encouraged to draw on their education, interests, and personal experiences.
